Unwavering support from the community was seen in Steveston Village this weekend as community members lined up to purchase discounted meat from Super Grocer & Pharmacy.
The meat sale, which began on Feb. 2, attracted long lines of residents wanting to help out a beloved local establishment devastated by a fire two weeks ago.
Information on Super Grocer's website showed the sale continued on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with various cuts of beef and pork. The grocery store is now starting to sell its inventory of frozen meats and butter is also available.
According to the latest update on Monday afternoon, the grocery store will be selling flowers, meat and cheese between Feb. 6 to 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 12160 First Avenue.
The sale is cash only as the store waits for credit and debit machines to arrive.
Super Grocer & Pharmacy on No. 1 Road was destroyed by a fire on Jan. 26 and the building was demolished last week after it was deemed unsafe. The grocery store was also home to a post office and all mail and packages are believed to be lost.
