This summer the East Richmond Community Association and Cambie Community Centre will be hosting its third annual Summer Fun Nights series. This free event is on Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 5: 30 to 7: 30 p.m. at King George Park Gathering Place at No. 5 and Cambie roads. Featuring musical performances, fundraising BBQ, face painting, giant bubble blowing, free Yoga in the Park, a robotics demonstration and other activities.

The Emerging Artists Committee organizes events and activities to increase young adults' (ages 18-30) involvement in the Richmond Art Gallery. The Committee meets regularly to discuss and plan opportunities at the Richmond Art Gallery for young artists working in the areas of visual arts, music, performance and new media.
Closing Night transforms the gallery into an accessible and sociable space for young emerging artists and students by introducing new elements such as theatre, poetry, music, or performance to the current exhibition. Closing Night: Haiku Poetry Slam happens on Friday, on Aug. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitors also have a chance to read out their own Haiku. Food and coffee is available. Door prize adds a pleasant surprise at the end of the event.
The free Richmond Raptor Festival happens Sunday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Terra Nova Rural Park. Get up close to some of the fabulous birds of prey that make Richmond their home.
