Cyclists can now leave their bicycles in a secure bike parkade at Bridgeport Canada Line Station.

It’s one of three new bike parkades – including Burquitlam and Lafarge Lake-Douglas stations – that have recently opened at Skytrain stations around the Lower Mainland, according to TransLink.

The parkades – which provide more travel options for essential workers or those taking essential trips – are fully lit, glass-walled facilities with video surveillance, according to the transit authority. Each parkade can store up to 45 bikes at a time, and is equipped with a repair stand and air pump for bike tires.

The facilities are available to registered customers, and can be accessed via Compass Card. The facilities cost $1 per day or $8 per month.

While bike parkades are more secure than locking bikes outside, TransLink advises cyclists to still lock their bikes within the parkade and make sure the door closes behind them.

People can find step-by step instructions to sign up for the bike parkades on TransLink’s website, or call Compass Customer Service at 604-398-2042 for more information.
