Carjacking in Richmond under police investigation

Richmond Mounties are investigating an assault and subsequent carjacking in the 11500 block of King Road in Richmond Thursday morning.

The victim had stopped the vehicle and was approached by a male suspect who produced a weapon, struck the victim and then fled with the vehicle, according to Const. Tammy-Lyn Walker via a news release.

The victim sustained minor injuries, was treated at hospital and released.

“Richmond RCMP are still investigating, however what is important for the public to know is this incident is believed to be targeted” said Walker.

Police remind the public “to be observant of your surrounds at all times. Take note of any suspicious persons or vehicles and obtain license plates where possible.”
