If hunting for cherry blossom trees outdoors is a gruesome task, then you might be glad to know that dozens of the pink-flowered trees have made their way to Aberdeen Centre.
The Richmond mall’s atrium has been transformed into a nature park featuring 23 six-foot-tall cherry blossom trees.
From a distance, the artificial trees, which are part of the mall’s “Romance Garden” exhibit, are just as similar as the real delicate pink flower petals.
Tiffany Ho, senior vice-president and senior general manager of Fairchild Developments, said the cherry blossom petals are made of paper, which took her team thousands of hours of work.
“2022 is also an unusual year with many things going around in the world, but we would like to appreciate what we have and express our gratitude to frontline workers for all the help they have been putting out over the past two years,” said Ho.
“It’s always the little things in life that make us happy, such as thousands of cherry trees bursting into bloom across the city.”
The installation will be on display until early June for visitors to take photos with.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen Centre is collaborating with Richmond Hospital to launch another exhibition in April to pay tribute to healthcare workers.
Ho said the exhibition is a reminder to "never forget those who have lent us a helping hand."
