They've been plucked from 1,500 applicants from as far away as England and New York - all in the hopes of landing a job as a $50,000 a year food blogger in Richmond.

The 12 finalists for Tourism Richmond's 365 Days of Dining campaign were named on Monday.

And Tuesday, the voting lines opened for the public to choose their favourite.

The most popular contestant will bag a place in the final three for the coveted one-year gig of eating in a local restaurant every day and writing a blog about it.

Richmond has two finalists, while the rest come from as far as England, Toronto, Brooklyn and San Diego.

"The response we've had from the 12 finalists so far has been incredibly positive and enthusiastic," Tracy Lakeman, Tourism Richmond's CEO, said in a press release.

"Some of them were even left speechless when we called to inform them that they were on the shortlist - something they said doesn't happen very often!"

"This campaign and the Richmond Foodie Blogger job have resonated across a wide and varied audience, garnering international attention for our destination.

"We are eager to select our blogger and have them reveal to the world the amazing culture and cuisine that Richmond has to offer."

Tourism Richmond now needs the public to help whittle the 12 down to three.

As of Tuesday, April 24, the voting lines are open and will close Tuesday, May 1 at 4 p.m.

You can vote for your favourite through Tourism Richmond's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ RichmondBC.

The voting page will include each of the 12 finalists' photos, a short writeup and a link to their respective blogs.

Tourism Richmond will select the other two finalists.
