Richmond's annual Not So Silent Night reception and auction hit a new fundraising record of more than $110,000 this year.
Not So Silent Night is one of the Richmond Christmas Fund's biggest fundraising event to help low-income families celebrate the winter holidays.
The event raised $110,895, surpassing the goal of $100,000.
According to Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, the organization that overlooks the Richmond Christmas Fund, an increase of more than 20 per cent of families received grocery vouchers compared to last year.
This year, 2,820 Richmond residents received grocery vouchers, 857 children received toys and books, and 309 teenagers received gift cards through the Christmas Fund.
