Bring friends and family to the Sharing Farms 4th Annual Garlic Festival in Richmond, but leave those vampires at home.

The only Lower Mainland garlic festival is for one day only next Sunday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Garlic fiends should expect to spend a few hours scouring the market for the organically grown artisan herb; this year featuring two hardneck varieties, Korean and Music, and an Italian softneck.

Whether you stop by for a scoop of garlic ice cream from Casa Gelato, or stay for a cooking demonstration by Chef Tina Fineza and others from The Chefs Table Society of BC, the taste of the festival is sure to linger.

Other entertainment includes folk singer/songwriter Betty Berda and a heart-pumping workout with Zumba Richmond. Kids get to experience garlic themed crafts, art with 4Cats Arts Studio and a hay pile.

The festival will be held at Terra Nova Rural Park at 2631 Westminster Hwy. Though on-site parking is not available, drivers can set up shop at Spulukwuks elementary or the City of Richmond Works Yard. Free shuttles will quickly transport lovers of the bulbous herb to the festival.
