Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the pumps, drivers get hit on the head – or the wallet – again.
Gas stations in Richmond on Friday morning were reportedly charging a record-breaking 2.16 cents for a litre of regular fuel, mirroring the rising cost across the Lower Mainland.
But wait, industry analysts are predicting that there’s more hurt to come for motorists, due to the ever-decreasing crude oil inventories globally.
The price is expected to rise again this weekend and even more over the next month or two.
Again, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is being blamed, in part, for the shortages now and for a predicted shortfall later in the year.
The Petro Can on Williams Road and Chevron on No. 5 Road, as well as the Mobil on No. 3 Road were all charging 2.16 on Friday morning.
As ever, the cheapest fuel in Richmond, according to GasBuddy.com, was at SuperSave on No. 5 Road and Westminster Highway, where they were charging 207.9 cents a litre.
