Steveston Winemakers raised an impressive $920 for the Richmond Food Bank last month.
The owners closed for the holidays on Dec. 24 and then tallied the funds they’d raised, before announcing the total on Boxing Day on their social media channels.
“We decided Boxing Day would be very appropriate to announce our success… (as) Boxing Day originated as a holiday to give gifts to the less fortunate,” the owners told the Richmond News.
“Thank you to all our customers who started a batch of wine this month to help us with this cause.
“The lineups at the food bank since the pandemic began have remained long so the need is noticeable. The value the food bank is able to achieve, at six times the dollar value donated, is incredible.”
