After more than 15 months, the site of the former Famous Players theatre in Richmond Centre will re-open as a new food court.
On Thursday, Nov. 1 Richmond Centre will unveil its new $30 million Dining Terrace.
It is visually stunning, said Leslie Matheson, director, property marketing for Richmond Centre. We wanted to elevate our dining experience to a whole new level of sophistication.
This is not typical food court. The 44,000 square foot space will house 18 food court merchants, in addition to Umi: Japanese Eatery and the Udon Bar, the first in Western Canada.
Umi brought in a $50,000 noodle machine and trained the kitchen staff on how to make noodles, said Matheson. There will also be the Pink Berry, a delicious frozen yogourt eatery.
All of the merchants on the ground floor will re-open upstairs, and the old food court will now be home to retail stores.
In its bid to be eco-friendly, the Dining Terrace will feature colourful recycled chairs made from PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles, as well as seven large B.C. reclaimed wood tables.
The public is invited to come for the unveiling of the new Dining Terrace on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be prizes and a Chinese Lion Dance Good Luck Ceremony.
