A non-profit that helps people with mental health challenges is holding two free virtual seminars this month - one in English and one in Mandarin.

Mental health counsellor Abdul Hassam will host The Power of Feelings: Understanding and Dealing with Your Feelings on Nov. 8, a seminar organized by the Richmond-based non-profit Community Mental Wellness Association of Canada (CMWAC). This session will be conducted in English.

Another virtual seminar will be given by mental health experts Archer Qian and Alex Li in Mandarin and is titled From Emotional Freedom to Financial Freedom: Be a Clear-headed, Sensible and Positive Adult (translation). This session will take place on Nov. 15.

Both seminars are part of the organization’s Heart to Heart program, where a group of counsellors provide free workshops or seminars every month.

“Our team of professionals is here to listen, help and support…This is a safe space where everyone is welcome to attend and share,” reads the event poster.

Both events run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the specified dates and are free to the public. Those interested can join by dialing 7254988477 on Zoom. No password is required.

CMWAC, formerly the Richmond Chinese Mental Health Support Group, was established in 1995 and has served as a platform to connect those with mental illness to their family members and other people with shared mental health concerns.

It provides culturally appropriate counselling services, education and training referrals provided within a caring community environment, according to the organization.
