Exciting 2017 season ahead for Richmond City Baseball

Chuckers to host a trio of high-profile tournaments

Richmond City Baseball president John Braaten and RCB players took a break from a training session at Blundell this week to show their support for anti-bullying Pink Shirt Day.

With Richmond City Baseball’s registration window now open until the end of March, there has been much off-field activity leading up to the start of the 2017 season in April.
The association’s “Just Play Ball” free programs have been underway since the start of the new year with weekly community centre sessions and various elementary school physical education programs — exposing baseball to children that may never have had the opportunity previously.
Recently, the RCB’s governing body — B.C. Baseball — awarded the association the 16-team provincial 13U AA John Main showcase tournament, May 25-28, and two Provincial Championships — the 11U “A” (Aug. 4-6) and 15U “AAA” July 27-30.
“Richmond City Baseball is very proud of these successful bids. These tournaments continue to bring increased exposure to our youth baseball programming and building of the Chuckers brand in Richmond” said RCB president John Braaten. “Our on going commitment to player development under Baseball Canada’s model continues to see participation growth results in our registration numbers”.
Opening Day is slated for April 8 at Palmer/Garden fields where Richmond City Baseball will be celebrating its rich history. Many of the founders of RCB will be in attendance.
