Hugh Boyd Trojans will take momentum into the upcoming provincial junior varsity football playoffs thanks to concluding their regular season schedule with three straight wins.
The Trojans rolled to a 19-8 home field victory over the Argyle Pipers Wednesday to lock up third place in the North Shore Conference. The streak started with earlier triumphs for Bryce Miller’s squad against West Vancouver (33-8) and Handsworth (14-7). The playoffs get underway next week.
Meanwhile, Boyd’s senior varsity team closes out its AA Southern Conference schedule Friday night when unbeaten Langley visits at 7 p.m.
The Trojans take a 2-1 record into the tilt after rolling to a 27-0 triumph over Moscrop last week. Senior tailback Gabe Saklofsky led the way with 242 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just 10 carries. He also returned an interception 35 yards for another score.
Lineman Darby Kwan led the defensive effort with eight tackles. Junior call-up Zach Jackson chipped in with an interception.
The Trojans are also playoff bound next week against a yet to be determined opponent.
