The Richmond Adult Soccer Association's (RASA) winter 2024/2025 season has started with a bang, and after a full month of captivating football, teams across all divisions have staked their claim for early supremacy.
Division 1: AC WestCoast undefeated, Brandon Nordine dominates
In Division 1, AC WestCoast has set the pace with an undefeated record over five games, boasting four wins and one tie.
However, Emerald Unicorn has been one of the most exciting teams in the division. They’ve already pulled off two huge wins, a 4-1 victory over RFC Hibs and a 2-1 triumph against Richmond All Blacks. The only team to take points from AC is WestCoast 2-2.
On the individual front, Brandon Nordine of RFC Hibs is currently leading the Division 1 scoring charts with 6 goals and 1 assist.
Division 2: AC Phantom's perfect start, Lion Rock FC's breakthrough
In Division 2, AC Phantom has started their campaign flawlessly, winning all four of their matches and allowing just three goals, the lowest in the league. Their perfect record sets the stage for a highly anticipated showdown on Oct. 6 when they face United FC, a traditional powerhouse in the league.
Meanwhile, Lion Rock FC has had a tremendous September, pulling off two shock victories over Division 2 giants. They edged out FC Hammers 2-1 and followed that with a 2-1 win against United FC, marking them as a serious contender.
On the scoring front, Ardip Espriansyah of Melvin FC leads Division 2 with 6 goals. His performance has been key to Melvin FC's competitiveness in the early season.
Masters Division: Heatherbrae Masters lead, Farouk Karim shines
Over in the Masters Division, Heatherbrae Masters have claimed the top spot with three wins and one draw, sitting on 10 points. Their early dominance is impressive, but the competition remains tight.
Farouk Karim is leading the division with six goals, a crucial factor in his team’s performance as they aim to solidify their top position.
Teams to watch in October
With October here, these are the teams to keep an eye on as the RASA Winter 2024/2025 season heats up:
Division 1: Emerald Unicorn – Coming off statement victories against RFC Hibs and Richmond All Blacks, they are poised to challenge AC WestCoast for the top spot.
Division 2: Lion Rock FC – After toppling two of the division’s strongest teams, FC Hammers and United FC, Lion Rock FC has quickly become a team that others can’t afford to underestimate. Their momentum from September carries into a pivotal October.
