A Richmond athlete and a coach have been nominated as finalists for Sport BC's annual Athlete of the Year Awards.
Athletics gold medallist Camryn Rogers and Dynamo Fencing coach Igor Gantsevich have been named finalists for the Senior Female Athlete of the Year and Male Coach of the Year awards, respectively.
Rogers and Gantsevich are among 44 finalists for individual and team awards.
The 57th annual sports awards recognize the province's best in amateur sport including athletes, coaches, teams and officials for outstanding performances in their sport in the 2024 season.
Final winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 6 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Each finalist was nominated by their provincial or multi-sport organization, high school, college or university.
Rob Newman, president and CEO of Sport BC, said the awards are a "true celebration of sport in our province."
"We congratulate our finalists and the organizations they represent”, he added.
“The finalists represent 29 sports from communities all throughout BC demonstrating the collective strength of our province’s sport sector.”
