Richmond Curling Club's Johnson Tao skipped his team to a 6-1 round-robin record at the BC Junior Curling Championships and can clinch a spot at the 2020 nationals with a semi-final win today.

Johnson Tao will take aim at a nationals berth this morning at the B.C. Junior Curling Championships.

The Richmond Curling Club skip has his team within a win of not only advancing to tomorrow’s provincial final but also securing a trip to the 2020 Canadian Championships later this month in Langley.

Team Tao will meet Team Colwell in today’s semi-final at the Victoria Curling Club. It will be a rematch of their final round-robin game on Tuesday afternoon that saw Tao prevail 8-6 to finish with a 6-1 record.

Tao’s lone loss was to Team Sato that topped the standings with a 7-0 record to advance directly to the final and earn a national berth too. BC rinks get two spots at the Canadian Championships.

Team Tao also features curlers from Vancouver and Port Moody. Joining Tao are Toby Mills (third), Connor Kent (second) and Michael Nunn (lead). The boys are coached by Richmond’s Vic Shimizu.

The final is slated for 10 a.m. on Thursday and streamed on cbcsports.ca.
