A former fighter turned trainer will be hosting his first amateur boxing card next month in Richmond.
Greg Harrison has been involved in kickboxing and boxing for 17 years as a competitor, coach, corner man and judge. As an athlete, Harrison fought 12 times as a professional boxer, as well as two amateur kickboxing bouts, throughout B.C. Alberta, Washington, Oregon and Nevada.
For the past decade, Harrison has focused on training boxers both male and female. He still judges at many local events and corners pro boxers. However his passion is to help new and experienced boxers compete in the ring.
Now he is ready to host his inaugural amateur boxing event on Feb. 11 at the Richmond Sports Club. The card will be an exciting evening of boxing of all levels, with 10 fights in total.
Twenty-two-year-old local amateur Josh vanRhyn, will be showcasing Harrison's technical boxing style after training with him for the past 18 months.
Tickets are $20 and are now available. The Richmond Sports Club is located at 2251 No. 5 Road.
