Members of a Richmond Little League championship-winning team — and their 94-year-old coach — will be reuniting for the first time in 53 years.

The 1970 North Richmond baseball team will be getting together for the first time since 1970, when they defeated the host team to take home the Western Canadian Little League title.

Organizer Willy Cardwell told the Richmond News he decided to “get the baseball rolling” on the reunion after speaking to members of the team.

“They said it would be fantastic to get together again,” he said.

Most of the team has already said yes, however, some, not surprisingly, have sadly passed away.

Cardwell would also like to send out a “bat-signal” to players Jeff Jordan and Ranjit Deol, as well as coach Matt Graham, who have yet to be tracked down.

The reunion will be held at the Pioneer’s Pub on No. 3 Road on Aug. 12 at 5 p.m.
