Steveston Karate bring home medals from Junior Nationals

Steveston Karate Club's Vikrant Anandkumar and Haruki Mori won gold and bronze respectively in their Kata Division at the Canadian Junior Championships in Edmonton. They were joined on the podium by B.C. teammate Dylan Berretta and Quebec's Liam Bisson.

The Steveston Karate Club had a number of impressive performances representing Team BC at the Karate Canada Junior National Championships in Edmonton.

The local contingent returned home with five medals, including three gold.

Leading the way was Vikrant Anandkumar in the Youth 12-to-13-year-old Division. He won the 45-kg Kumite competition and also added gold in Kata.

Clubmate Haruki Mori added silver in the same Kata event.

Meanwhile, it was a gold medal performance in Kata for Amane Takeuchi, competing in the Female Junior 16-to-17-year-old Division.

Rounding out the medalists was bronze for Erika Chow in Female U21 Kata.
