Richmond Hospital Foundation received almost $30,000 donation from the Vancouver Diamond Lions Club.
The Vancouver Diamond Lions Club raised funds at its annual installation and charity gala in July to help build a dedicated calming space at Richmond Hospital's emergency department for those with mental health symptoms.
Richmond Hospital Foundation's emergency department mental health campaign goal is to raise $1.38 million for a calming space for patients with mental health conditions and will feature a space with softer lighting and soundproof walls.
“We’ve always been committed to giving back to the community and supporting health care needs in Richmond,” said Marco Choi, president of Vancouver Diamond Lions Club.
“This year, we chose to raise funds towards a dedicated space in the emergency department for patients experiencing mental health concerns. With anxiety and depression becoming more prevalent, providing a more supportive environment is a priority.”
Since 2009, the club has donated to the hospital to help with equipment, the new acute care tower and the Medical Imaging Centre Campaign.
"The Vancouver Diamond Lions Club’s support has been instrumental in elevating the care our health care teams provide in Richmond over the years,” said Spencer Gall, chief philanthropy officer at Richmond Hospital Foundation.
“This donation will help improve mental health care in Richmond’s Emergency Department. We are so grateful to be the beneficiary of their annual gala once again.”
