A street brawl and three parties – two in commercial buildings and one at a house – resulted in hefty tickets in June, handed out by the Richmond RCMP.
Richmond RCMP responded to a fight in the city, but it turned out one of the men involved had breached his quarantine – he was supposed to be in a hotel – and ended up with a $5,700 ticket.
An after-hours party at a commercial building where there were 13 people was interrupted by Richmond RCMP who found open liquor, food being served as well as gambling.
The host received a $2,300 ticket and each attendee got a $575 ticket.
Another after-hours party was attended by 18 people and police found open liquor as well as karaoke singing.
That host received a ticket of $2,300 and the attendees were ticketed as well.
At the house party, only the host was ticketed and the attendees were given verbal warnings.
On July 1, the province lifted its longest-ever state of emergency and pubs, bars and restaurants are allowed to operate with 50 people gathered inside or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is higher. There are still some restrictions, for example, no dancing is allowed.
Outdoor gatherings of up to 5,000 are also allowed or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is larger.
Fully vaccinated Canadian citizens and permanent residents no longer need to quarantine for 14 days after international travel.
