Richmond cyclist wins bronze in Canadian Road Championships

U17 athletes competed for the national title for the first time this year.

A Richmond teen cyclist representing B.C. recently impressed at the 2024 Canadian Road Cycling Championships.

Steveston resident Ryan Nickerson competed for the Canadian title in the inaugural U17 men's race held in Saint-Georges, Quebec on June 23.

He finished the 86.7km hilly course in torrential rain with a time of 2:10:40, taking home bronze in his category.

Next on Nickerson's list are the Tour de Concord in Vancouver and the Tour de Bowness in Calgary. He is set to wrap up his race season in September with the 152km Forte category at the Whistler Gran Fondo.
