Multiple gold medals and new regional records were celebrated by the Richmond Kigoos Swim Club this past weekend.
The local swimming club competed in the Fraser South Regional Swimming Championships held Aug. 2 to 4.
Swimmers Rio Miller, Abigail Cheung and Emi Nishi each won four gold medals in their events at the championships. The club's division 2 boys also swept the podium in the 50-metre freestyle race.
Meanwhile, Nishi and Nathan Zhang both set new regional records.
Fifty-six swimmers from the Kigoos qualified for the provincial championships, which will be held at the UBC Aquatic Centre from Aug. 16 to 18.
“I am so proud of each and every swimmer who competed this past weekend," said Megan Shinger, head coach of Richmond Kigoos.
"Seeing those thrilling swims, smiles and memories made will always be one of my favourite parts of Regionals!”
